    sad news
My great-grandma Lois passed away today. She has been sick for several years now and for the most part it is a blessing that she is no longer in pain.
This is the grandma who taught me to paint, and sew, and gave me my first knitting lessons. My love of china and tea come from her, I remember having tea and cookies as she taught me to oil paint. She was 99yrs old and unable to remember who I am anymore. But I will not forget her.
    Bright Blessings Grandma

    Project Runway
You teased me and enticed me with talk of dresses made of flowers and designers with pretentions.
I admit I was weak and ready for something new, I was drawn in, and before I knew it, I was hooked on the edge of my seat.
I could hardly wait to watch the next episode. Even (blush)sneeking to watch a few without Steve. It finally came down to the last three, excitement almost unbarable, I couldn't believe the first glimpses of their latest design, I was panting for the runway, when what should appear?

Doctor Who Christmas Epsode? What?!?!?! What what what???? Fast forward didn't help...the finale with the final runway scene was gone!

    NOOOOOOOOooooooooo!

I'm doing most of my writing these days for psych. I have five more papers due in three weeks. Gaack! I did great on my last exams. 106% on a nine chapter psych and 97% on a two chapter Algebra. Yay me. So if anyone is interested in reading my papers on: Availability Hueristic, Harlow's Monkeys, MAO(the nuerotransmitter not the dictator!),Pavlov's experiments, Immune Correlation,or False Memories. Just say the word I would be happy to post. I'm sure they are a very good cure for insomnia!

    Ironies
So I'm sitting in a lecture in psych class yesturday. Absolutly exhaughsted and trying not to fall asleep. This was a lecture on the different stages of sleep, sleeping disorders and sleep deprevation. About half way through the class I look around and notice tyhree of my fellow students fast asleep on their books. One of whom was slumped over his book bag with his coat still on. I gues I'm not the only one trying to burn the candle at three ends. :)

    My Plate
Hey guys I've finally got a picture up for the plate that won 3rd place at the State Fair. I'm extra-ordinarally proud of this as it's the first art fair I've been in since High school.

Walking into the commens area of campus yesterday was an interesting study of diversity. Every age, culture, and personality seemed to be represented. I passed an older man playing chess with a young man who seemed fresh from high school. a diverse crowd of onlookers to the game included a young man with skulls decorating his shirt and peircings bedecking his face. And also a middle aged women in very proffesional attire. In another corner there was a man with his guitar, his music barely audible above the thrum of the lunch crowd. On entering the little coffee shop there was a corning of very young students playing cards (gosh that's a familiar heartwarming site) and a group of head scarfed middle eastern women giggling over a laptop. I swear I could sit and watch the crowd all day. I might not learn as much as I am in Algebra and Psychology, but somehow it reminds me of why I came back to school. It's a good feeling see all the various diversities growing, learning, laughing and striving. All people trying to be something more.

    On writing
Over the years I really haven't taken the time to write as much as I would like to. I have a drwaer full of stationary, as I intended to write letters to friends. (Letters being more personal than E-mail.) How I thought I could do this when I don't even take the time to e-mail is beyond me. Though there have been a few poems, stories and songs that I have written down, mostly what I make up I carry around until I forget it. One friend pointed out recently I would have to sit down for longer than 10 minutes. New Years resolution; Sit down for 10 min. a week and try to write something, that isn't homework, or business related. And if you belive that I've got some Haiku to sell you.

    summer weather
Why is it that all this summer, every time I've had a day off, the weather has been very uncooperative for taking the kids to the beach. Here we have moved to this beatiful town with a beach 5 min away in just about any direction and this is the first beach worthy day off I have had in weeks.
So to heck with the laundry and all that rot. C'mon kids grab your suites...theres only two more weeks 'till school. Ouch where'd my summer go?

    Luckyday
I had a job interview that went really well. It helped that I had already spoken with the store manager who was interested in me. So tomorrow I turn in my three weeks notice and Wednesday I start training.

This means a job with flexible hours so I can go back to school. and working only five minutes from home.

I also received a call from the State art Fair to inform me that I have won an award for my piece. And they wanted to be certain I would attend the reception in order to accept it! This is my first art show in 15 years and it's very exciting stuff for me. This means that my piece will be displayed at the Fair for two weeks. Anyone who happens to attend the Michigan State fair this year can find my china plate in the fine arts building. Its called "Mid summers Day Dream" and depicts a dream like lake scene with Birch trees.

Good luck tends to come in threes and Steve suggested I buy a lotto ticket. I found a penny on the ground today though, and passed the luck along to a friend who might need it. Maybe she will get the third hit and have luck in her job ventures too. :)

Wishing every one else good luck as well

    Art Fair
Well, I've entered my first juried art fair. Granted It's just a State Fair art fair, still however my nerves where going wild and I was a bit paranoid of breaking the china piece before getting it to the fair. Everything made it to the fair safe and sound. The women who where checking in the pieces even remarked on how beautiful the plate was and asked if I take commissions. Huge boost to the ego here folks. I've never had anyone offer to pay for my art before. Kudos go out to my instructor Ann, who convinced me to enter my piece. And also to Diana and Sandy for encouraging me to join the class and along the path of learning.
Just goes to show, you never know what you can accomplish until you try. Go ahead and dream but you need to take that first step and keep going to reach them. Unlike the Disney song of "Wishing on a star" Hopes and wishes only get you so far.
I'm not worried about winning. I'll just be happy if it's judged nice enough to display for the fair.
O.K., O.K. I wanna win. But it's not going to ruin the experience if I don't. Fair enough?
